Tui Na is one of five major Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) therapies as documented in the Yellow Emperor’s Classic of Internal Medicine circa 2300 BCE.
Currently, Tui Na is viewed and taught as one of two fields of study in Chinese medical colleges. Tui Na practitioners in China undergo vigorous and arduous training, are considered doctors in their own right, and receive the same level of professional respect as acupuncturists and herbalists.
Tui Na seeks to institute a more harmonious flow of Qi throughout the meridians (or channels) throughout the body by releasing stagnation and opening or clearing the meridians and points. These same meridians and points utilized by acupuncture and herbology.
Tui Na methods include massage and body manipulation techniques to realign and release the musculoskeletal system and establish a free flow of Qi and blood.
While the theory and effectiveness of Tui Na has been proven and documented for centuries, the best way to explore its benefits are to experience it.
